Happy Friday, and greetings from New York City!

This weekend, I’m speaking at my graduate school reunion at Columbia’s School of International and Public Affairs. Yes, once upon a time, I passed my days reading long humanitarian-law case studies; having weekly discussions about realism, constructivism and liberalism in international relations; and wrestling with learning the ins and outs of Stata (for collecting data statistics). My classmates came from all walks of life, from all over the globe, and I’m a better human being for having had the opportunity to learn from people from such different backgrounds. Eleven years after graduation, I still call many of them friends.
