COLUMBUS, Ohio — On the Saturday night of Nov. 11, as arguably the best player in college football lay in his well-tended bed and drifted toward well-earned sleep in his well-kept apartment with its two closets of color-coded clothes — one for shirts and tops, one for slacks and bottoms — he had a smorgasbord of the day’s delights from which to choose for a good lulling. This wide receiver had the 19-yard touchdown run (nice), the two touchdown catches (grand if normal), the seven catches for 149 yards (jeez) and the idea that, given his rarefied level of play even among the brightest lights, Ohio State ought to hire a string quartet as field-side accompaniment.
