Montgomery C. Meigs, a four-star Army general who commanded a U.S. European military force of 60,000 from 1998 to 2002 and oversaw NATO peacekeeping efforts in Bosnia, died July 6 at his home in Austin. He was 76.

The cause was complications of Parkinson’s disease and Lewy body dementia, said his wife, Mary Ann Meigs.
