Republicans for years have relied on highly gerrymandered districts to achieve what they could not in fair elections, but in related victories over the past two weeks, Wisconsin Democrats have beaten back attempts to subvert election results, helping to preserve free and fair elections.

The most important of these concerns the state Supreme Court and a Republican movement to impeach liberal Justice Janet Protasiewicz over comments she made, before joining the court, about Republican-led redistricting.
