Today, President Biden announced plans for a presidential trip next year to sub-Saharan Africa as part of the final day of a summit in Washington that his administration is hosting for leaders from the continent. Biden also formally voiced his support for the African Union to become a permanent member of the Group of 20 nations, a highly influential forum for the world’s most powerful economies. With the summit, the first of its kind since 2014, the Biden administration is seeking to revitalize the U.S. relationship with Africa.
