The Washington Post today announced the best places to work in the Washington D.C. area as determined by its ninth annual Top Workplaces survey. Conducted in partnership with employee engagement firm Energage, LLC, The Post’s survey asked employees about the companies they work for to identify 200 of the highest ranked workplaces in the region. This year’s honorees include government contractors, real estate firms, health service providers, and tech companies.

More than 7,000 area companies were invited to participate and 518 were surveyed, a record high. The top companies were selected based on survey responses from more than 72,000 employees on topics ranging from employee development to innovation.

The Washington Post hosted an awards ceremony on Thursday, June 16 to recognize the 200 top-ranked companies. Today’s edition of The Washington Post will also include a special Top Workplaces magazine, which includes a cover story that examines the simple yet significant ways some top D.C.-area firms retained and recruited employees during the Great Resignation -- particularly for non-remote jobs where people had to interact with the public. Additional coverage includes reporting on the difficulties workers have faced navigating this “in-between” time - not fully in the office and not fully at home, and a Q&A with four top executives on the biggest challenges of the year.

Here are the top three organizations within the largest, large, mid-size and small company categories:
