Music from this century doesn’t appeal to Sedona. The LA-based pop artist prefers songs from the 1970s and ’80s, when women-led outfits took to stages in shag cuts, much like hers, to romanticize and castigate love affairs.

“I don’t really connect to the literal frequencies that are coming out of new music,” she says on a Zoom call.
