Earl Hutto, a Florida sportscaster who served as a U.S. representative representing the state’s western Panhandle as a Democrat from 1979 to 1995, died Dec. 14 at his home in Pensacola, Fla. He was 94.

His daughter Lori Hutto confirmed the death but did not provide a cause.

In Congress, Mr. Hutto was part of a coalition of conservative Southerners who called themselves “Boll Weevils” who helped advance President Ronald Reagan’s economic agenda in the 1980s.
