Moderna’s coronavirus vaccine got the greenlight from a Food and Drug Administration advisory committee Thursday, paving the way for authorization of a second shot as the United States reported single-day highs in new infections, hospitalizations and deaths.

The Food and Drug Administration said the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine should continue to be used with no new restrictions despite cases of severe allergic reactions.
