Myles Garrett’s meeting with the Browns could be awkward after he begged the Cowboys to draft him

Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett has a pretty good chance of going No. 1 in this year’s NFL draft, a selection currently held by the Cleveland Browns. Last month, however, he released a video plea in which he begged Jerry Jones and his hometown Dallas Cowboys to trade up into the top spot.

“I’m speaking to you Jerry. Mr. Garrett, make it happen,” the 21-year-old said in the video. “I need you to take Tony Romo, take a couple picks and give them to Cleveland so you can pick me up. Please, I’d love to play in Dallas, just make it happen.”

All of this could make Garrett’s meeting with the Browns at the NFL combine on Saturday night a little awkward.

Garrett wasn’t the only prospect to beg the Cowboys to take him at the expense of the Browns. Last month, Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson said Cowboys Coach Jason Garrett promised to draft him if he won the Davey O’Brien Award for the second straight year, which he did.

“I know you all remember last year. I said I like being in Fort Worth, Texas, and I told you — I promised you — that I’d be back here. And I told Coach Garrett if I’m back here, you have to draft me,” Watson told the crowd at the Davey O’Brien Award ceremony in Fort Worth. “So I know … Tony Romo is healthy. Dak [Prescott], I’m a huge fan, love that man, had the privilege to get to know him this year and text him over the year. He’s been successful filling in for [Romo] but … I did my part, now you have to do your part. … We’ll talk, I’ll see you at the combine, so we’ll talk more about that.”

But hey, at least the Browns still have RGIII.
