Anne MacMillan, the chief Washington lobbyist for The Wonderful Company — which owns the pomegranate beverage POM Wonderful, Fiji Water and California wineries — has joined the lobby firm of Democratic lobbyist Heather Podesta.

Prior to joining Wonderful Co. in 2014, MacMillan worked for top Democrats in the administration and Congress, most recently as <span style="line-height: 1.5;">deputy chief of staff for Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack and senior policy adviser for former House speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.). She was also a legislative aide for Reps. Dennis Cardoza (D-Calif.) and Bob Matsui (D-Calif.).</span>

Podesta’s firm, Heather Podesta + Partners, is one of K Street’s top lobby shops, last year earning $7.6 million in lobbying revenue. Podesta is a major fundraiser for Hillary Clinton.

“She brings to the table years of legislative and regulatory experience, a reputation as a hard-working thought leader in the food and agriculture space, and a history of successful advocacy for the industry,” Podesta said of MacMillan.

MacMillan was the sole registered in-house lobbyist for the California-based Wonderful Co., a $4.8 billion private company that also owns the mandarin oranges Halos, Sonoma Valley vineyard Landmark Wines, and the Paso Robles, Calif., winery Justin Wines. While working for the company, MacMillan lobbied Congress and the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on agriculture policies including food and juice labeling, implementation of the Farm Bill, and issues arising from the California drought, according to lobbying records.

“I look forward to advancing the interests of our clients and expanding the voice of the food and agriculture industry in Washington,” MacMillan said.

Podesta’s firm already represents several corporations and trade groups in the agriculture and food and beverage industries, including the American Beverage Association, the National Pork Producers Council, Peets Coffee & Tea and Red Bull.
