You’ve probably seen the first photo above by now. It’s of a woman calmly standing her ground as police officers heavily decked out in riot gear advance toward her to arrest her. The photo went viral, and many news outlets, including The Post, have written about it, some hailing it as the most iconic image from the events surrounding the aftermath of last week’s awful spate of violence.

Here at The Washington Post, Michael E. Miller said of the photo: “What is clear is that the image of the young woman’s arrest has captured a critical moment for the country. Like the Facebook video of Diamond “Lavish” Reynolds calmly talking to the officer who had just fatally shot her fiance, the photo of the arrest in Baton Rouge encapsulates both the anger and the exhaustion of Black Lives Matter activists.” [Read the story: ‘Graceful in the lion’s den’: Photo of young woman’s arrest in Baton Rouge becomes powerful symbol]
